Tour Itinerary

Your day begins when you rendezvous with your guide in Globe, Arizona. After a thorough safety orientation, harness fitting, and gear check, we leave civilization behind and make our way toward the canyon rim across rugged Sonoran Desert terrain.

The landscape shifts quickly as you drop below ground level and stand at the edge of the first drop. Under the direct supervision and instruction of your certified guide, you will step over the edge for your first technical rappel, descending deep into sculpted sandstone corridors where towering rock walls narrow to just shoulder-width.

Inside the system, the adventure is pure movement and exploration. You will navigate twisting slot passages, scramble over natural rock obstacles, and experience the quiet beauty of hidden alcoves where desert light bounces off polished stone. Midday, we pause in a shaded corridor to rest, hydrate, and enjoy lunch and trail snacks.

After navigating the final narrows and completing the exit hike back up to the canyon rim, we return to the staging area for debriefing and gear return, wrapping up an authentic Arizona backcountry descent.

Participant Requirements

Physical Mobility: Ability to hike over uneven, rocky terrain and sustain 4 to 5 hours of moderate outdoor activity.
Minimum Age: Suitable for active participants ages 8 and up (minors must be accompanied by an adult).
Health Clearance: Moderate cardiovascular fitness; not recommended for individuals with severe unmanaged vertigo or recent joint surgeries.

What to Bring

Footwear: Sturdy, broken-in hiking boots or trail running shoes with aggressive tread. Open-toed shoes, sandals, and smooth-soled sneakers are strictly prohibited.
Clothing: Dress appropriately for the day's forecast and temperatures. Synthetic layers and durable pants or long tights are recommended to protect against abrasive rock walls.
Hydration: Bring 24 to 32 oz of water in a durable water bottle (we provide filtered water refills throughout the day).
Trail Food: Pack a lunch and any preferred snacks. Please ensure items are packed securely so they will not leak or spill in your pack.
Eye Protection & Sunscreen: Sunglasses (retention strap recommended) and sunscreen for open approach sections.

Season & Departure Times

This is a cooler-weather canyon: it runs November through April, meeting at 9:00 AM in Globe. It is not available May through October. Departure times may be adjusted to earlier starts for private or large groups.

Where do we meet our guide?

You will meet your guide at a designated staging area in Globe, Arizona. Your lead guide will contact you directly prior to your tour with exact coordinates, driving instructions, and arrival timing.

Do I need prior technical canyoneering or climbing experience?

No prior technical experience is required. Our certified guides walk you through every step, provide full safety systems, and coach your movement throughout the descent. In the event that weather makes the descent unsafe, we will work with you to reschedule or provide a full cancellation.
