What is the Dry Canyon canyoneering adventure?
This is a guided canyoneering adventure through a remote Arizona slot canyon near Globe. The technical tour features rappelling, scrambling, and certified guide instruction in a stunning Sonoran Desert setting, with approximately 3 to 5 hours of active canyon time.

In a remote slot canyon near Globe, Arizona, known for its sculpted stone, narrow passages, and natural rappelling features. You rendezvous with your guide at a designated staging area in Globe.
Do I need prior technical canyoneering or climbing experience?
No prior technical experience is required — beginners are welcome. Certified guides walk you through every step, provide full safety systems, and coach your movement throughout the descent, including hands-on rappel instruction on site. The most important requirement is being ready and willing to listen closely and follow your guide’s instructions.
THE CANYONEERING EXPERIENCE
What does the day look like?
Your day begins when you rendezvous with your guide in Globe, followed by a thorough safety orientation, harness fitting, and gear check. You then travel toward the canyon rim, step over the edge for your first technical rappel, and descend into sculpted sandstone corridors. Inside the canyon, you navigate twisting slot passages, scramble over natural rock obstacles, and pause in a shaded corridor for lunch before completing the final narrows and the exit hike back to the rim for debriefing and gear return.
How long is the actual tour, and does it include drive time?
The listed duration (approximately 3 to 5 hours) covers active canyon time from rendezvous to release. The exact time spent on the route varies depending on group size and overall group pace. Total transit time for the day depends on your starting point, as driving times from Phoenix, Scottsdale, or Sedona will vary.
REQUIREMENTS
What is the minimum age?
This tour is suitable for active participants ages 8 and up. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
What physical ability do I need?
You must be able to hike over uneven, rocky terrain and sustain 4 to 5 hours of moderate outdoor activity. Moderate cardiovascular fitness is required.
Who should not participate?
This tour is not recommended for individuals with severe unmanaged vertigo or recent joint surgeries.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
What’s included?
A professional, certified canyoneering and backcountry guide; all technical group gear, ropes, harnesses, helmets, and canyon backpacks; trail snacks and filtered water refills on-site; a comprehensive safety briefing and hands-on rappel instruction; and all required land access, backcountry, and permit fees.
What’s not included?
Transportation — guests are responsible for driving to and from the designated rendezvous location in Globe. Guide gratuity is optional but always appreciated for exceptional service. Guests are also welcome to pack a leak-proof trail lunch.
GEAR & WHAT TO BRING
What style of footwear is required?
Sturdy closed-toe hiking shoes, boots, or trail runners with aggressive rubber tread are required to negotiate rocky terrain and sandstone surfaces. Open-toed sandals and smooth-soled shoes are not permitted.
What should I wear?
Dress appropriately for the day’s forecast and temperatures. Synthetic layers and durable pants or long tights are recommended to protect against abrasive rock walls.
What should I bring?
Bring 24 to 32 oz of water in a durable water bottle (we provide filtered water refills throughout the day), a packed lunch and snacks secured so they will not leak or spill in your pack, sunglasses (retention strap recommended), and sunscreen for open approach sections.
SEASON & MEETING
When is this tour available?
This is a cooler-weather canyon: it runs November through April, meeting at 9:00 AM in Globe, and is not available May through October. Departure times may be adjusted to earlier starts for private or large groups.
Where do we meet our guide?
You will meet your guide at a designated staging area in Globe, Arizona. Your lead guide will contact you directly prior to your tour with exact coordinates, driving instructions, and arrival timing.
Will my guide contact me before the tour?
Yes. Your lead guide will reach out prior to your scheduled tour date to confirm the exact rendezvous location in Globe, timing, and current road conditions. Please ensure your contact phone number and email address are accurate when booking.
WEATHER & SAFETY
What happens in the event of inclement weather or flash flood warnings?
Slot canyon safety requires strict weather monitoring. 360 Adventures tracks regional systems and upstream conditions, and our team holds sole discretion for determining whether conditions are safe to enter the canyon. In the event that weather makes the descent unsafe, we will work with you to reschedule or provide a full cancellation.
