Tour Itinerary

The day begins with an early morning pickup from your Phoenix, Scottsdale, or Tempe hotel. From the Phoenix, Scottsdale, or Tempe area, our route takes us through the Sonoran Desert up into the picturesque mountain town of Flagstaff, the historic Route 66 town at the base of the San Francisco Peaks, before we continue north to the Lake Powell region. Along the way, we will enjoy a visit to a Navajo Trading Post and explore Navajo culture and their intricate crafts.

Upon arriving in Page, we stop for a casual lunch before heading to the Lower Antelope Canyon trailhead. You will explore the canyon with your Navajo guide, enjoy views of Lake Powell, and then embark on a scenic 1.5 mile round-trip walk to Horseshoe Bend Overlook, highlighted by awe-inspiring views into the deeply carved channel, Glen Canyon, and the Colorado River below before returning to the Valley of the Sun by mid-to-late evening.

Requirements

• Skill Level: Moderate physical activity. This tour is not strenuous but requires steady, careful footing, balance, gripping, and walking.
• Minimum Age: 3 years old.
• Walking: Approximately 2 miles on sandy paths and uneven sandstone; the Horseshoe Bend portion is a 1.5 mile round-trip walk on a dirt path with no shade.
• Elevation: Requires climbing steep metal ladders and stairs with railings.
• Physical Requirements: You must be able to walk on slanted, uneven sandstone and loose sand and climb steep metal ladders/stairs. Some canyon sections are narrow and may not be suitable for guests with claustrophobia.

Season & Departure Times

Public tours depart on Thursdays and Saturdays; minimum participants required. Departures are between 5:00 AM and 6:00 AM and may depart slightly earlier depending on your pickup location. Return time is between 7:30 PM and 8:30 PM. Departures are from select hotels in the Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Tempe area; in efforts to cut down on pickup time, we may need you to meet at another hotel. Our office will contact you upon booking.

Important Notes

RESERVATIONS REQUIRED: To minimize city driving, pickup locations are optimized and confirmed the day prior to departure. Departures are from select hotels in Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Tempe; in some cases you may be asked to meet at another nearby hotel, and our office will contact you upon booking.

Additional Notes for Antelope Canyon: Service animals are not allowed. Bags, purses, backpacks, tripods, and hiking poles are not allowed in the canyon.

Weather Closure Note: In rare occasions, Lower Antelope Canyon will close due to unforeseen weather events. Although we closely monitor the weather, sometimes the closure is beyond our control and happens last minute. If this occurs, we will try to get tickets for UPPER Antelope Canyon but this will incur an additional fee of up to $60/person. You will be able to opt out of the Antelope portion if you do not wish to pay this extra fee but you will NOT be refunded for the overall tour, except for the $73/person Lower Antelope ticket.
