What is the Lower Salt River Rafting tour?
A relaxing, smooth-water scenic raft float on the Lower Salt River — calm Class I moving water with no rapids. It’s our most family-friendly river activity: swim and splash or just relax and soak in the scenery as you search for wild horses and bald eagles from a stable, professional raft.
How long is the tour?
Approximately 1.5–2 hours on the water, within a 2–2.5 hour activity window from meet time to finish. The tour meets at the Canal/Hawes Park & Ride, where a shuttle takes you to the Lower Salt River launch and returns you to your vehicle afterward.
Where does the tour take place?
The route varies between sections of the Lower Salt River, from Saguaro Lake to Granite Reef, chosen daily based on water levels.
Is this a guided tour?
Yes. All tours are led by a professional safety-certified guide who steers the raft and shares insights into Sonoran Desert geology, hydrology, flora, fauna, and human history. A little paddling is required, but no experience is necessary.
Will we see wildlife?
Wild horses and bald eagles make an appearance on most trips, but sightings are not guaranteed. Blue herons, ospreys, river otters, and other wildlife are common along the river corridor.
Do you offer a sunset rafting tour?
Yes. Our Salt River Sunset Rafting & Wildlife Adventure offers the same calm Class I float timed for golden hour, with cooler air and glowing mountain silhouettes.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
What skill level is required?
None — this is a beginner-friendly Class I float with no rapids, and your guide steers the raft. It’s suitable for all ages of families and first-time rafters.
Are there age or weight restrictions?
Guests must be at least 5 years old and weigh at least 35 lbs. Maximum participant weight is 275 lbs. All minors must be accompanied by an adult.
What footwear is required?
Secure water shoes or sport sandals that can get wet and won’t fall off. Flip-flops and bare feet are not permitted.
WHAT TO BRING & WHAT TO WEAR
What should I bring?
Bring water shoes or sport sandals, comfortable athletic clothing, a change of clothing, sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen), and any medications you may need. You are also welcome to bring a camera.
Will I get wet?
You may get lightly splashed even on this calm float, so wear lightweight, quick-drying clothing. On warm days many guests choose to swim and splash during the tour — on cooler days you can stay warm and dry in the raft.
What equipment is provided?
We provide an outfitter-grade inflatable raft, paddles, USCG-approved PFDs, and dry storage for personal items.
WEATHER & SEASONAL CONDITIONS
When does the daytime tour run?
The tour runs year-round with prior reservation. From May through September 14, departures are at 7:30 AM. From September 15 through April, departures are at 10:00 AM.
What happens if it rains?
Tours operate rain or shine. We only cancel tours for dangerous weather conditions, and that decision is made solely at the discretion of 360 Adventures.
PICKUP & TRANSPORTATION
Where does the tour meet?
The tour meets at the Canal/Hawes Park & Ride in the Phoenix area, where you board our shuttle to the Lower Salt River launch site.
How does the shuttle work?
Roundtrip shuttle transport from the meeting point to the river is included. After your float, the shuttle returns you comfortably to your vehicle.
Is hotel pickup available?
Yes. Hotel pickup is available for $295 per activity.
MEALS & AMENITIES
Are food and drinks provided?
Bottled water and light snacks are included for the duration of the tour.
PHOTOGRAPHY
Can I bring a camera?
Yes — a waterproof camera or dry bag is recommended for capturing the wildlife and scenery. Dry storage is provided on the water to keep personal items safe.
BOOKING & POLICIES
How much does the tour cost?
$148 per person. Private tours are available for an additional $200 per activity, and hotel pickup for $295 per activity.
Are reservations required?
Yes. All river tours must be booked in advance to secure equipment and transport.
Is there a minimum group size?
There is a 4-person minimum for this tour. Groups may be combined to meet the minimum. Private tours are also available for an additional $200 per activity.
What should I tell you when booking?
In the Special Request box at booking, let us know if you would like hotel pickup or a private tour, and include your group size so we can plan equipment and transport accordingly.
Do I need to sign a waiver?
Yes. All participants must sign a digital liability waiver before the tour begins.
Are gratuities included?
No. Guide gratuities are not included in the tour price.
What is the cancellation policy?
This tour has a 72-hour cancellation policy. Please read your confirmation email for details.
