ABOUT THE TOUR
Webpage: /grand-canyon-skywalk-helicopter-flight-from-phoenix/
What makes the helicopter portion unique?
You will board a premier ECO-Star helicopter for a 20-minute journey that descends 3,500 feet below the rim. You will land at an exclusive site just 300 feet above the Colorado River and spend approximately 20 minutes on the canyon floor.
What is the Skywalk?
The Skywalk is a glass-bottom bridge that extends 65 feet over the canyon edge, offering a direct view 4,000 feet down to the canyon floor.
What is the security process for the Skywalk?
Per Hualapai tribal rules, personal items are not permitted on the Skywalk. All personal belongings must be stored in lockers, which are provided free of charge, and all guests pass through a metal detector before being allowed on the bridge.
Where do we eat lunch and what are the options?
Lunch is provided at Guano Point. Options include Chicken Tenders, Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Cheeseburger, Impossible Burger, BBQ Chicken Sandwich, BBQ Pork Sandwich, or a Vegan BBQ Sandwich.
Can I bring my own food?
No. Due to Hualapai tribal rules, outside food and alcoholic drinks are not allowed.
Can we go down to the water's edge at the landing site?
No. We are not permitted to get near the water due to rules set forth by the Hualapai Tribe. The water is considered sacred, and we respect their beliefs.
Will our group be seated together on the helicopter?
The helicopter holds 7 passengers and is very weight sensitive. The operator will attempt to keep groups of 6 or less together but may have to split groups due to weight in the interest of safety.
REQUIREMENTS
Is this tour suitable for everyone?
This tour is not suitable for anyone with mobility challenges due to uneven ground, stairs, and areas without guard rails. Additionally, infants are discouraged from this tour due to the amount of walking involved.
Are there weight restrictions for the helicopter?
Yes. Passengers weighing 300 lbs (136 KG) or more are required to purchase an additional seat on the helicopter due to weight restrictions.
Are there weight restrictions for the airplane?
There is an additional $150.00 per person charge for passengers over 285 lbs, assessed by the aircraft operator and payable at check-in.
GEAR & EQUIPMENT
Should I bring a camera?
Absolutely. The helicopter landing site and the Skywalk offer one-of-a-kind photo opportunities. Note that personal items are not permitted on the Skywalk itself - free lockers are provided. We also recommend sunscreen and hats.
What should I wear?
Tours operate rain or shine. It is typically 20-30 degrees cooler at the canyon than in Phoenix, and winter temperatures can dip below freezing, so dress in layers and wear sturdy walking shoes for the uneven terrain at the West Rim.
