ITINERARY
Meet your guide at the Echo Canyon Trailhead (or Cholla Trailhead) and begin your ascent of Camelback Mountain. This is a very strenuous hike that includes steep grades, rocky footing, and sections where you’ll use your hands for balance.
Along the way, tackle signature features of the route such as stair-like sections (including approximately 75 railroad ties), steep rock faces (including the well-known Twin Rail sections), and challenging boulder fields. Your guide will help you move efficiently and safely while sharing local geology and desert ecology.
After reaching the summit for panoramic views, begin the descent with additional points of interest that may include areas like Secret Cave and Surface of Mars Butte, depending on the route and conditions.
