What is the Sunrise Hiking Tour?
This is a guided 2-hour sunrise hike through the Sonoran Desert that culminates at a mountain saddle with breathtaking early-morning views of the Valley of the Sun, Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Camelback Mountain. How long is the hike?
The hike lasts approximately 2 hours on natural-surface trails, including a viewpoint break with trail snacks and beverages.
What time does the tour start?
Departures run between 4:30 AM and 6:30 AM depending on the season, timed to catch the sunrise. Your guide will contact you ahead of the tour with the exact meetup location.
What will we see on the hike?
First light over the Valley of the Sun, with views of Piestewa Peak, Camelback Mountain, and the Sonoran Desert stretching more than 40 miles to the west. Your guide shares the geology, plants, and wildlife of the most diverse desert in North America along the way.
What is included in the tour?
An expert professional guide with Wilderness First Responder or EMT certification, lightweight backpacks and headlamps to use, bottles of purified water, healthy trail snacks (dietary preferences can be accommodated), any admission fees to parks or preserves, and refreshments following your adventure.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
How difficult is the hike?
Easy to moderate. We go at your own speed and tailor the route to your mileage, terrain, and grade preferences, so the tour is fun for hikers of any age and skill level.
What should I expect physically?
Approximately 2 hours of walking on natural-surface trails, including switchback ascents at an easy-to-moderate pace. Headlamps are provided for the pre-dawn start.
WHAT TO BRING & WHAT TO WEAR
What should I wear?
Closed-toe shoes such as running, cross-training, or hiking shoes are required — no sandals, please. Long-sleeved layers are recommended for sun protection and chilly morning temperatures.
What should I bring?
Sunglasses, a hat or cap, and a camera — first light on the desert is made for landscape photos. Headlamps, lightweight backpacks, purified water, and trail snacks are all provided.

When is this tour available?
The tour operates year-round. Departures run between 4:30 AM and 6:30 AM depending on the season, timed to coincide with the sunrise.
Do tours run in bad weather?
Tours operate in most conditions. If weather is determined to be dangerous, we will work with you to reschedule your tour.

Where does the tour meet?
Your guide will contact you ahead of the tour with the exact meetup location near the trailhead.
Is transportation provided?
No — guests make their own way to the meetup location. Uber and Lyft drop-off and pick-up service are available.

Will we have time for photos?
Yes. The viewpoint break is timed to sunrise — first light on the desert is one of the best landscape photo opportunities in Arizona, so bring a camera.
BOOKING & POLICIES
How much does the tour cost?
Solo hiker: $195. 2-3 hikers: $125 per person. 4-10 hikers: $99 per person (1:6 guide ratio). Pricing includes all permitting and land use fees. For parties of more than 10, please reach out through our contact page.
