What is the Salt River SUP tour?
This is a guided stand-up paddleboard tour on the moving waters of the Lower Salt River in the Tonto National Forest. The price includes a professional safety-certified guide, paddleboard, paddle, PFD and dry storage, National Forest entry fees, snacks and bottled water, and roundtrip shuttle from the meeting point to the river.
How long is the tour?
Paddling time on the water is approximately 1.5-2 hours, within a 2-2.5 hour tour window from meet time to finish.
Where does the tour take place?
The Lower Salt River is a stunning desert oasis featuring lush riverbanks and rugged cliffs. The gentle but consistent current makes it a scenic, one-of-a-kind corridor for paddling through the Sonoran Desert.
Is this a guided tour?
Yes. All tours are led by professional safety-certified guides who provide a moving-water safety briefing and paddling instruction before launch, then guide the group down the river.
Will we see wildlife?
Wild horses and bald eagles are frequently seen along the river, but sightings are not guaranteed as these animals are in their natural habitat. River birds and other Sonoran Desert wildlife are common along the corridor.

Yes. Our Salt River Sunset Stand-Up Paddle Boarding & Wildlife Tour offers a quieter, more scenic way to experience the river as the day transitions into night. It's designed for experienced paddlers who are comfortable on moving water.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
What skill level is required?
This tour is for experienced paddlers only. Guests must be comfortable and capable of navigating moving water on a stand-up paddle board.
Are there age or weight restrictions?
Guests must be at least 12 years old and weigh at least 90 lbs.
What footwear is required?
Secure footwear that can get wet and will not come off in the water is required - water shoes or sport sandals with a backstrap work well. Flip-flops and bare feet are strictly prohibited.
How physically demanding is this tour?
You must be able to stand and paddle for the duration of the tour (approximately 1.5-2 hours). Paddling moving water on a SUP is a full-body workout.
WHAT TO BRING & WHAT TO WEAR
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable athletic clothing appropriate for the weather that you do not mind getting wet. Quick-dry fabrics are preferred over denim or heavy cotton.
What should I bring?
Bring water shoes or sport sandals, comfortable athletic clothing, a change of clothing, sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen), medications, and a camera.
How much water should I bring?
Bottled water is provided as part of the tour. We still recommend hydrating well before arrival, especially on warm-weather departures.
What equipment is provided?
We provide high-performance paddleboards suited for river conditions, paddles, PFDs, and dry storage, plus snacks and bottled water. National Forest entry fees are also included.
WEATHER & SEASONAL CONDITIONS
When does the tour run?
The tour operates daily with prior reservation. The morning timeframe is 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Afternoon departures are offered on the sunset SUP tour.
What happens if it rains?
Tours operate rain or shine. We only cancel tours for dangerous weather conditions, and that decision is made solely at the discretion of 360 Adventures.
Will I get wet?
You may - paddling moving water can mean the occasional splash or dip, which is why a change of clothing is on the what-to-bring list.
PICKUP & TRANSPORTATION
Where does the tour meet?
The meeting point is the Canal/Hawes Park & Ride. Specific driving directions and meeting instructions are included in your booking confirmation.
How does the shuttle work?
Roundtrip shuttle transportation from the meeting point to the river launch is included in the tour price.
Is hotel pickup available?
Yes. Transportation to and from most valley hotels and resorts is available for an additional $295 per activity. Please contact us directly to confirm availability and schedule transportation in advance.
MEALS & AMENITIES
Are food and drinks provided?
Yes. Snacks and bottled water are included for all participants.
Can I bring my own snacks?
Yes, though light snacks are provided by your guide. Please store personal items in waterproof containers or dry bags to prevent them from getting wet on the water.
PHOTOGRAPHY
Can I bring a camera?
Yes - don't forget a waterproof camera. The scenery and wildlife viewing opportunities are excellent. If using a phone, a waterproof case or pouch is strongly recommended.
BOOKING & POLICIES
How much does the tour cost?
$156 per person for groups of 4-9 participants. Private tours are available for an additional $200 per activity, and hotel pickup for $295 per activity. For groups over 9 participants, please contact us.
Is there a minimum group size?
There is a 4-person minimum for this tour. Groups may be combined to meet the minimum. Private tours are also available for an additional $200 per activity.
Can I book a private tour?
Yes. Private tours are available for an additional $200 per activity above the standard per-person pricing. Contact us to arrange a private experience for your group.
Are reservations required?
Yes. Reservations are required for all tours. We do not accept walk-up participants as guides and equipment must be staged specifically for each scheduled group.
What is the cancellation policy?
This tour has a 72-hour cancellation policy. Please read your confirmation email for details.
Are gratuities included?
Gratuities for your guides are not included in the tour price. While never required, tipping is standard industry practice and a great way to show appreciation for your guide's expertise and safety management.
