What can I expect to see on the Salt River?
The Salt River is a stunning desert oasis featuring lush riverbanks and rugged cliffs. While paddling, you can enjoy scenic desert views and look for wildlife, including the famous Salt River wild horses and nesting bald eagles.
Are wildlife sightings guaranteed?
While wild horses and bald eagles are frequently seen in this habitat, sightings are not guaranteed as these animals are in their natural environment.
Is this a guided tour?
Yes. You will be accompanied by an experienced instructor who provides guidance and a safety briefing before you head out onto the moving water.
Do you offer a sunset SUP tour?
Yes. Our Salt River Sunset Stand-Up Paddle Boarding & Wildlife Tour offers a quieter, more scenic way to experience the river as the day transitions into night. It's designed for experienced paddlers who are comfortable on moving water.
REQUIREMENTS
What is the required skill level for this tour?
This tour is for experienced paddlers only. Guests must be comfortable and capable of navigating moving water on a stand-up paddle board.
Are there age or weight restrictions?
The daytime tour requires guests to be 15+ with a minimum weight of 90 lbs. The sunset tour requires guests to be at least 12 years old with a minimum weight of 90 lbs.
Are there specific footwear requirements?
Yes. Shoes that can get wet and will not come off in the water are required. Sport sandals like Teva, Chaco, or Keen are acceptable. Flip flops and bare feet are strictly prohibited.
GEAR & EQUIPMENT
What equipment is provided?
We provide a paddle board, paddle, and all necessary safety gear. We also include bottled water and snacks for the duration of the tour.
What should I bring?
We recommend wearing water-friendly clothing suitable for the weather, sunscreen, and a hat. Don't forget a waterproof camera to capture the scenery.
SEASON & DEPARTURES
When does the daytime tour run?
From May through September 14, we operate a 7:30 AM departure only to beat the afternoon desert heat and ensure the best wildlife viewing conditions. From September 15 through April, departures are at 10:00 AM.
When does the sunset tour run?
Sunset SUP departures vary by season:
• January–February: 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
• March–May 15: 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
• May 16–August: 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM
• September 1–15: 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
• September 16–December: 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
How long does the tour last?
The duration is approximately 2–3 hours.
RESERVATIONS
Are reservations required?
Yes, reservations are required to participate in this tour.
Is there a minimum group size?
There is a 4-person minimum for this tour. Private tours are also available for an additional fee.
CANCELLATION POLICY
What is your cancellation policy?
This tour has a 72-hour cancellation policy. Cancellations made outside the 72-hour window will receive a full refund, minus any applicable processing fees. Cancellations made within 72 hours of the tour date will be charged 100% of the tour fee.
What happens if it rains?
Tours operate rain or shine. We only cancel tours for dangerous weather conditions, and that decision is made solely at the discretion of 360 Adventures.
