How long is the tour?

Is this a guided tour?
Yes. Certified rappelling guides supervise the entire experience - they manage every anchor and belay and run a full safety and rappel-technique briefing before your first descent.
Do I need previous rappelling experience?
No. The tour is beginner-friendly with full instruction on site, and first-timers learn rappel technique from the pros. Describing your experience on rope in the Special Request box at booking helps your guides prepare.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
What is the minimum age?
Guests must be at least 8 years old. Contact us for groups with younger kids.
What fitness level is required?
Moderate - the tour involves hiking on uneven terrain and staying active for about 3 hours, so guests need a decent base level of fitness.
What footwear is required?
Closed-toe shoes with good traction are required for the hike and the rappel.
WHAT TO BRING & WHAT TO WEAR
What should I wear?
Clothing that allows a wide range of motion, plus a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen for sun protection.
What should I bring?
Start with 24-32 ounces of water per person (we provide refills), sun protection, and personal items like your camera and any medications.
Do I need to bring a backpack?
No - we supply backpacks for the day, so there's no need to bring your own pack.

WEATHER & SEASONAL CONDITIONS
When does the tour run?
Year-round. From May through September the tour meets between 5:00 and 6:00 AM; from October through April departures are at 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM.
Why are summer start times so early?
Early-morning starts keep your group on the rock before the desert heat peaks during the warmest months.
How do I find out my exact meeting time?

Is transportation provided?
No - transportation to the meeting point is not included. You'll make your own way to the West Buttes Parking Lot at Papago Park.
Is there parking at the meeting point?
Yes - the meeting point is the West Buttes Parking Lot itself, so you park right where the tour begins.
MEALS & AMENITIES
Are food and drinks provided?
Snacks and water refills are included. Start with 24-32 ounces of water per person and we'll keep it topped up.
Is a meal included?
The tour runs about 3 hours, so snacks and water are provided rather than a full meal.

Can I bring a camera?
Yes - a camera is a recommended personal item for the tour.
Do you provide tour photos?
Yes. Free photos of your tour are taken and uploaded to our Facebook page.
BOOKING & POLICIES
How much does the tour cost?
$275 per person for groups of 2-4, $215 per person for groups of 5-7, and $215 per person for groups of 8-10 (a 15% gratuity is added for groups of 8+).
What group sizes do you accommodate?
Groups of 2 to 10 guests. Contact us if you have questions about your group size.
Are reservations required?
Yes - reservations are required. Your exact meeting location and directions arrive with your confirmation.
What should I put in the Special Request box?
Please describe your experience on rope - it's helpful for your guides to know beforehand.
What is the cancellation policy?
This tour has a 72-hour cancellation policy. Please read your confirmation email for details.
Are gratuities included?
A 15% gratuity is automatically added for groups of 8 or more. For other group sizes gratuities are not included - never required, but always appreciated for great guiding.
