Before we roll out, your guide runs a full safety and vehicle briefing at the staging area, and by the time we hit the trail the basics are second nature.

How the Morning Runs
You'll meet at our OHV staging area in the Tonto National Forest - the Butcher Jones trailhead parking, with exact turn-by-turn directions arriving in your confirmation email. Check in, get fitted with a DOT-certified helmet, goggles, and a complimentary souvenir Face Gator, and walk through the briefing. Then strap in behind your lead guide.
The route is the good stuff: sandy washes, rugged rock gardens, and seasonal water crossings through saguaro-lined canyon terrain, with 2+ hours on the trail. Halfway, the convoy stops and every buggy swaps driver and passenger. Beverages and snacks are on hand throughout, and the team captures free action photos of your run to take home.
The Practical Stuff
- Price: $299 per 2-seat sand buggy - two riders, one machine ($150 per person). When groups have an odd number of drivers, a single-driver buggy is $199. Price does not include tax (9.02%), a permit fee ($7.99 per vehicle), a fuel surcharge ($12.99), or optional guide gratuities.
- Departures: May through October at 7:00 AM; November through April at 8:00 AM, 10:00 AM, and 3:00 PM.
- Requirements: Drivers must be 16 or older with a valid driver's license; passengers 8 and older. Closed-toe shoes are required - wear clothes you don't mind getting dusty and bring sunglasses and sunscreen.
- Big groups: Birthdays, bachelor and bachelorette parties, and reunions ride together in a convoy; write to [email protected] for groups larger than 12 vehicles.
- Know before you go: Reservations are required, there are typically no restrooms on desert trails, and cancellations are free up to 72 hours before departure.
