Join our professional guides on outfitter-grade rafts for a relaxing scenic float down the Lower Salt River, an ideal way to experience the Sonoran Desert from the water without the intensity of rapids. This adventure goes through the Tonto National Forest and provides opportunities to spot the famous Salt River Wild Horses and nesting bald eagles while you drift past towering cliffs and desert flora.
Water in a desert is a truly astonishing experience. It brings out wildlife like no other topography can and we may even see the Wild Horses & Bald eagles.
We meet at a convenient rendezvous spot, load into our vehicles then transport to the river. We'll do a quick safety orientation and gear distribution. Once everyone is fitted with PFDs we'll board our professional-grade inflatable rafts. The first stretch of the Lower Salt River offers immediate views of giant saguaros and the rugged Goldfield Mountains as we begin our downstream drift.
As we navigate the calm currents, your guide will keep a close watch for the Salt River Wild Horses often found near the water’s edge and bald eagles in their nests. We move at a steady pace, allowing plenty of time for wildlife photography and observation of the diverse bird population. The tour concludes at the take-out point, where our shuttle waits to return you to the original meeting location for the final wrap-up.
