First-class Verde Canyon Railroad Wilderness Train Ride

Verde Canyon Railroad provides a 20-mile roundtrip wilderness adventure through a wild and scenic riparian canyon only accessible by rail. For four-hours, passengers enjoy comfort, style, exceptional amenities and outstanding service in vintage cars on a century-old route through a red rock paradise along the Verde River. First-class features living-room style seating and premium bar service. A complimentary champagne or sparkling cider toast is served upon boarding and a selection of hot and cold appetizers are included.

Picturesque highlights along the route include southwestern plants and wildlife, historic trestles, dramatic geology, unusual rock formations and a 680-foot tunnel. The train travels a rare riparian ribbon curving between the scenic high desert and the Verde River, an ecosystem that comprises only 2% of Arizona landscape. Throughout the journey, the captivating history of the Verde Canyon unfolds with fascinating narration interlaced with a wide variety of railroad songs. Well-versed and entertaining attendants on both the indoor and outdoor cars share history and lore with passengers. This comfortable and accessible experience is an adventure for all ages.

Duration:  3.5-4 hours round-trip 

Departs: Clarkdale, Arizona, in the heart of Arizona’s Verde Valley. Ask our Adventure Specialists about current time schedule. Most trains depart at 1pm and return to the depot by 5pm. It is recommended guests arrive at the depot 2 hours prior to departure to best enjoy the museum, shops and café at the depot prior to boarding time. From May through September there are Saturday evening starlight runs, departing at 5:30 p.m.

Includes:  First Class includes a complimentary Champagne toast after boarding, hot and cold appetizers, and bottled water throughout the trip. With access to adjacent open-air viewing cars, all passengers have “two seats” for the price of one. Car attendants are provided in both the indoor and outdoor cars to share interpretive information and answer any questions passengers may have.

Cost: March-May and September & October - $119 per person.  November-February and June-August - $109/person.
