This is a two-day, beginner-friendly outdoor climbing course designed to teach essential safety systems, belaying, climbing movement, rope handling, and outdoor climbing fundamentals.

This course is ideal for first-time climbers and those transitioning from indoor climbing to outdoor environments.
How long is the course?
This is a 2-day course, with full-day instruction on both days.
Where does the course take place?
The course typically meets at Tom’s Thumb Trailhead. The meeting location may vary occasionally and will be confirmed by your instructor.
Is this a private course?
No. This is a group instructional course with 4–8 participants.
What skills will I learn?
You’ll learn safety-first climbing practices, communication commands, belaying, knot tying, rope systems, efficient climbing movement, route reading, and outdoor climbing etiquette.
Is this a certification course?
No. This is an instructional course focused on skill development and outdoor readiness.
Who teaches the course?
Certified climbing instructors lead all sessions, focusing on safety, proper technique, and hands-on learning.
How is safety handled?
Instructors provide safety orientation, monitor all belaying and climbing, and teach hazard awareness, environmental considerations, and Leave No Trace principles.
What’s included?
Permits and entry fees, certified instructors, hands-on outdoor climbing instruction, all ropes, and all anchor systems.
Is rental gear included?
No. Required personal gear may be rented for $30/person (helmet, harness, locking carabiner, belay device, climbing shoes).
What skill level is required?
Beginner to Intermediate. No prior outdoor climbing experience is required.
What physical ability do I need?
Participants must be able to hike approximately 2 miles over uneven terrain while carrying a 20lb pack.
Is there a minimum age?
Yes. The minimum age is 8 years old.
Who should not participate?
This course is not recommended for guests with knee, hip, or back issues, or for those who are pregnant.
What gear is required?
Participants must have a helmet, harness, locking carabiner, belay device, and climbing shoes. Rental gear is available.
Do I need climbing shoes?
Yes. Climbing shoes are required. Rental shoes are included in the rental package.
Can I bring my own gear?
Yes. Personal gear is welcome as long as it is in good condition and appropriate for outdoor climbing.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothing that allows for a full range of motion.
What kind of shoes do I need?
Closed-toe footwear is required for hiking and moving around the site.
Do I need to bring food and water?
Yes. Guests must bring their own water, snacks, and lunch.
Anything else I should bring?
Sun protection (hat, sunglasses), a small backpack, and any personal comfort items.
What if the weather looks bad?
We closely monitor weather conditions and will cancel if inclement or dangerous weather threatens participant safety. Weather decisions are made solely by 360 Adventures.
Are bees present?
Bees may be present outdoors. If you are severely allergic, you must bring appropriate medication.
Do I need to sign a waiver?
Yes. All participants must sign the Assumption of Risk form no later than 72 hours before the course. Minors must have a parent or legal guardian sign for them.
Do I need reservations?
Yes. Reservations are required.
What is your cancellation policy?
You may cancel up to 72 hours before your course for a full refund. Cancellations within 72 hours are charged 100% of the course fee. All cancellations must be submitted in writing and receive written confirmation to be valid.
Is gratuity included?
No. Gratuity is not required but is always appreciated. Typical gratuities range from 15%–20%.
