This course is designed to build real-world climbing confidence while introducing the techniques needed to safely climb outdoors. We can't teach you to be great climbers, but we can teach you to be safe climbers.

This two-day beginner outdoor climbing course begins with a safety orientation covering communication commands, climbing etiquette, and environmental awareness.
Participants then move into hands-on instruction including equipment fitting, belaying techniques, knot tying, rope systems, and efficient climbing movement. Throughout the course, guides provide personalized instruction as climbers practice reading routes and solving movement challenges on real desert rock.As skills develop, instructors help participants build confidence on the wall while discussing progression options and next steps for continuing their climbing journey.
This course is available October through April. Typically departs at 8:00am from Tom’s Thumb Trailhead, though the meeting location may vary occasionally.
4–8 Guests – $475/person (minimum 4)
Reservations are required. Comfortable clothing that allows for a full range of motion is recommended. and includes a helmet, harness, locking carabiner, belay device, and climbing shoes. Participants must wear appropriate closed-toe footwear and bring their own water, snacks, and lunch.
