ABOUT THE TOUR

What is wet canyoneering?
Wet canyoneering combines hiking, swimming, wading, scrambling, and rappelling through a water-filled slot canyon. You’ll move through pools, waterfalls, narrow passages, and sculpted rock features while using technical gear and guidance from professional canyon leaders.

Where does the tour take place?
This adventure takes place in a seasonal wet canyon located near Tonto Basin in May and near Payson from June through September. These canyons feature flowing water, waterfalls, deep pools, and dramatic rock corridors shaped by seasonal runoff.

How long is the adventure?
Expect 3–5 hours in the canyon depending on group size, pace, and water conditions. Total time includes hiking, swimming, rappelling, and navigating water-filled sections.

Is this a guided tour?
Yes. All tours are led by highly trained professional guides who specialize in technical canyon travel, water safety, and rope systems.

REQUIREMENTS & SAFETY

How physically demanding is this adventure?
This is a moderately strenuous adventure. Guests must be able to hike approximately 4 miles over uneven terrain while carrying a 20 lb pack, swim through pools, scramble short sections, and be comfortable with heights and moving water.

Do I need to know how to swim?
Yes. Swimming ability is required. Several sections involve swimming through pools or moving water while wearing a wetsuit and carrying gear.

Is there a minimum age?
Yes. The minimum age is 14. Children ages 8–13 may participate only on a private tour.

Is there a weight or size limit?
Guests must be able to fit into our harnesses, which accommodate up to a 42" waist.

Are bees present in the canyon?
Yes. Bees are often present in wet canyons. Guests with allergies must bring appropriate medication.

Do I need to sign a waiver?
Yes. All participants must sign the Assumption of Risk form at least 72 hours before the tour. Minors must have a parent or legal guardian sign for them.

GEAR & CLOTHING

What gear is provided?
We provide all technical gear, including helmets, harnesses, rappel devices, gloves, wetsuits, and safety equipment. Day packs and snacks are also included.

Are wetsuits included?
Yes. Wetsuit rentals are included in the tour price.

Do I need to bring water?
Yes. Each guest must bring 24–32 ounces of water. Filtered water is provided for refills.

What should I wear?
Closed-toe shoes are required. Guests must bring a pair of shorts to wear over their wetsuit to prevent damage. Additional clothing guidance is provided in your confirmation email.

WEATHER & CONDITIONS

Does weather affect the tour?
Yes. Tours may be canceled or rescheduled if weather or water levels are unsafe. Full weather details are provided in your confirmation email.

Do canyon conditions change?
Water levels and flow can vary throughout the season, but the route itself remains consistent.

LOGISTICS & MEETING LOCATION

Where do we meet?
This tour departs from Tonto Basin in May and from Payson June through September. Exact meeting instructions are provided after booking.

Will my guide contact me?
Yes. Your guide will call the afternoon or evening before your tour to introduce themselves and answer any last-minute questions.

BOOKING & POLICIES

Do I need reservations?
Yes. Reservations are required for all canyoneering tours.

What is your cancellation policy?
This tour has a 72-hour cancellation policy. Cancellations within 72 hours are non-refundable.

Can I book a private tour?
Yes. Private tours are available for groups of 4 or more for an additional fee.
