Arizona is an amazing place to raft or kayak. The dramatic contrast between desert & water is rather unexpected. Because water is the most valuable resource in a desert, it's not uncommon to see wild animals along the banks of the rivers. This smooth-water float is a great opportunity to see wildlife in their native habitat and appreciate the beauty of our natural environment.
You and your guests will marvel at the beautiful wilderness within the Tonto National Forest as you raft on the Lower Salt River! As you float down the Salt River, our guide will highlight the thousand-foot cliffs, majestic Saguaro Cacti and the native wildlife of the Sonoran Desert. Keep your eyes open for wild horses, deer, great blue herons, osprey, bald eagles, and other wildlife. These 14-ft. outfitter-grade performance rafts are small enough to navigate our tight rivers and large enough to comfortably carry up to 8 guests. With our experienced guide at the stern, your experience on the river will be safe, educational and wonderfully entertaining.
The Salt River is a Class I river (the easiest rating on the international scale of river difficulty) and provides some of the best wildlife and bird watching opportunities in the Southwest. Water temperatures are in the 60s in the winter and rise to low 80s in the summer months. Swimming is possible year‐round, but the water may be chilly in January!
