Havasu Falls Backpacking

Taking a backpacking and camping trip to Havasu Falls is an epic vacation you have to do at least once in your lifetime. Disconnect from our busy, materialistic world and rely only on yourself, the experience of your professional guide, and the gear you carry on your back. Backpacking is the most strenuous way to visit Havasu Falls. You will carry all of your gear including tents, sleeping bags/pads, food, and even group gear like the kitchen equipment will be shared among hikers. You must be comfortable carrying 35-45lbs on your back during the (10 mile) hike in and out of the canyon. Don’t have the gear?  Rentals are available.

Duration:  4 days/3 nights

Departs:  Grand Canyon Caverns Campground in Peach Springs, AZ

Cost:  $780/person + $420/person permit fee*.
Price is based on shared occupancy.  Solo occupancy upgrade available for an additional $25/person +tax; A 30% deposit is required to hold your reservation on any Grand Canyon backpacking trip. The balance is due 60 days prior to your trip departure date. *Permit fees subject to change and will be based on actual costs at time of departure

Included in cost:  Meals starting dinner Day 1 through lunch Day 4; Grand Canyon Caverns campground costs; Professional Wilderness First Responder certified guides; Kitchen and group gear (cooking utensils, stove, fuel, water filter, food storage where needed, dish washing necessities); Personal mess kit (bowl, mug, fork, spoon).

Not included in cost:  Personal insurance and expenses; Pre- or post-trip lodging; Transportation to and from Grand Canyon; Airfare; Airport transfers; Breakfast and lunch Day 1; Dinner Day 4; Backpacking gear (sleeping bag, sleeping pad, backpack, tent, trekking poles); Optional guide gratuities.

Optional additions:

  • Round-trip transportation from Phoenix/Scottsdale to Grand Canyon ($100/person); This option requires you to meet at the host hotel @ 1:30pm in Scottsdale on Day 1.
  • 1-person backpacking tent ($35 ea)
  • 2-person backpacking tent ($45 ea)
  • 55 to 65 liter backpack with removable daypack option fitted to individual ($40 ea)
  • Sleeping bag and linen set rental ($35 ea)
  • Inflatable sleeping pad ($35 ea, sleeping pads add insulation and are required)
  • Trekking poles (complimentary upon request)

**Optional upgrades are subject to a 7.95% tax.

Skill level:  Advanced; recommended for ages 14+

Season:  Havasupai tours are available February through November

Notes:  RESERVATIONS REQUIRED.  All Grand Canyon tours are group tours; minimum 4 guests; groups can be combined to meet the minimum.   Havasupai tours are very popular and advanced planning is often necessary. We recommend making your reservations at least 3 to 5 months in advance. We can accommodate last minute bookings provided space is available, so please call our office to check.  Private tours are available for an additional fee.  

‚ÄčAll cancellations must be made in writing via email or fax. Cancellation fees abide by the following schedule:
-91 or more days prior: Full refund for all trips
-61 to 90 days prior: Forfeit of deposit (30%)
-31 to 60 days prior: 50% of trip cost
-0 to 30 days prior: 100% of trip cost (no refund)
